Has anyone been able to get a lower body lift paid for by their insurance. Would you be willing to share how you made the request and the reasons why it was a medical nessity and not cosmetic. Thank you.

I wasn't able to get a lower body lift approved. However, my bariatric surgeon was able to get approval for arms, chest, panni, and thigh lift on the first submission. Neither my surgeon or I expected it would be approved.

I'm having a full Tummy Tuck in addition to the panni, chest and arms next month, and then legs later this year. The back half of the lower body lift will be next year, most likely.

So Nurse247, what kinds of conditions have to exist for aporoval?

But in my years of managed care I've never seen brachioplastys approved or lower body lifts. I have seen Pannis approved though. It's very rare.

Most the time you can google your insurance criteria for procedures. That would probably give you a better idea. But most the time they consider it cosmetic.

My insurance did not cover it. N chance It is expensive. An extended TT is a little less

My insurance will cover my sleeve surgery and if I can have skin surgery in the same year then my out of pocket cost would be $2,000 for everything. I am hoping I can get both in the same year but I am still in the pre-op stage.

Hello joteddie I had my gastric sleeve in 2013 lost 80 lbs and have maintained pretty good probably gained about 10 lbs back due to back surgery and not able to be active.....I have in the past two year document and gone to doctor for severe cases of rashes I didn't think I would get approved and was surprised [emoji15] when I received my approval letter in the mail last week. I'm hoping to loose the 10lbs I've gained before I have the surgery in December. Good luck to you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
