Have I botched my surgery [emoji22]

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all,

I'm 8.5 months post sleeve. I did really well the first 5 months, quickly dropping from my SW of 255 to about 183 within 5.5 months.

At the 6th month mark I started stalling, gaining and losing the same couple of pounds over and over. This despite the fact that I followed the NUT advice to a T and worked out frequently.

I got discouraged and disappointed because in the past I had lost more weight on my own without the surgery and here I was still struggling to lose weight after a drastic surgery [emoji35].

Disappointment coupled with a breakup that was long overdue created the perfect conditions for my food addiction to rear it's ugly head [emoji22].

From about month 6 to now I've been over eating slider foods, avoiding the Proteins and just been a horrible WLS patient.

My question is, is it over for me? Have I stretched my sleeve to the point of no return? My surgeon is ok with my weight (183lbs) but I would like to get down to atleast 150lbs but with each new day I feel like I'm getting further and further away from my goal.

I'm disappointed and frustrated with myself and it's making my life miserable [emoji22]. Why the heck can't I get my ish together and get this done?

Any advice is appreciated[emoji846]

You aren't a horrible WLS patient; you are a human being who is hitting a glitch. Get back on the food plan recommended by your Nut/Surgeon and follow it! If you have to, go back and do several days to a week of just Protein Shakes, like immediately following surgery. There is no magic to WLS- you have still have to do the hard work of sticking to a food plan, of going against the eating habits you spent a lifetime learning and reinforcing. However, this time you have your sleeve to help you. You might have lost weight on your own before having the surgery, but were you able to keep it off? It's one thing to fluctuate by a couple of pounds... but is your weight continuing to climb, endlessly? Have you gained back all you lost, and more, which is what most of us experienced when trying to lose weight pre-surgery? You can do this... just start following the meal plans to a T; weigh/measure/record what you eat; stick to high Protein, low/no carbs, plenty of water; small bites, chew chew chew. You can do this!

Only if you want it that way, otherwise fight it! You said you lost more weight without the surgery, so if you can do it with a normal stomach, you can do it with a sleeve, even if it has stretched a bit. Keep positive!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
