I joined a gym on 3/2. I've been to the gym 11 out of those 13 days and one of the days I missed I went on a 30 min walk with my husband. I have been doing some combination of a Water aerobics class, biking 5 miles on the recumbent bike or walking 30+ min (1.5+ miles) with husband. Some days I do all three. According to my fitness tracker, it's equaled to 5200 Cal's in the past 7 days.

My food logs, while having so not super fantastic food choices, have averaged less than 1200 cals and at least 80g of Protein a day. I've been getting a min of 50 oz liquids (64 is still hard for me to do along with food). That comes out to ~8400 cals in the last 7 days.

So with a net intake of ~500 calories a day and basal metabolic rate of~ 2000, that's a 1500cal deficit a day. So.... how am I not losing any bloody weight?!? I have been gaining and losing the same pound for the last 12 days!

By my math, a 1500cal deficit a day should equal a 3lb loss over the last 7 days.

Can someone please explain it to me?!?

Note 1 - I have just started weightlifting one day ago, so I doubt it's muscle weight.

Note 2 - My surgeon said that adding extra calories wasn't necessary and the bariatric nurse said to add 100 cals of protein on the high activity days or if I felt weak.

This question is in line with, "I go to bed weighing 167lbs. I wake up weighing 164lbs. I didn't pee 3 pints! Where did the weight go?"

The body does some wacky things. My guess is that you need to take a break day every so often, or play around with getting more calories. Once you get into a routine, the body has your number. Keep it guessing!

Good luck!

It's completely normal. Plateau and weightloss stalls will happen alot along the way. It's your body's way of playing catch up.
Take your measurements. Because scale might not be moving the inches are coming off.

During my six month pre-op diet program, I reliably lost 3 pounds a week. My weight loss was modeled by a linear function almost perfectly. I'll be 6 months post-op in 10 days. My weight loss has become more of a step function. I'll lose 8-10 pounds in 1.5- 2 weeks, and then I stall for 1.5-2 weeks. Then the cycle repeats. At first, it was super frustrating, but then I accepted that this was the way the journey was going to be for a while. This morning, I woke up to a 2.2 pound difference from yesterday, which is an almost 11 pound loss in the last 15 days. There is no way I lost 2.2 pounds of fat since yesterday morning. But this signals to me that this loss cycle is probably winding down. That's how it usually works.

The body is a complex machine, but it is also a funny one. I have had to learn to just keep on doing what I know I need to be doing, and just roll with the rest.

Good luck!

I agree with previous posters. The body is complex and does not follow formulas. If you haven't been tracking inches, you should start. My trainer and I noticed that the weeks I didn't lose pounds I always lost inches.

I would not discount how your body is adjusting to this new work out schedule. It may take a few weeks for it to adjust. I also recommend getting a rest day at least every 4-6 days. Even my body builder trainer doesn't work out 7 days a week.

I think i figured out part of it. Ive been sick and when i went to the doctor i noticed that my left foot was swollen. I have had edema for 10+ years but havent had any flares since the surgery. I had stopped taking meds (with permission) since i had previously been on the highest dose and uts hard on my body.

I took furosimide again for the furst time in months and peed out 3lbs of Water. I weighed each time i went (just to see). The 3lb loss rrmained this AM. I have a feeling i was just retaining a massive amount of water.

I am used to stalls... have had many. This one was just refusing to budge even with the typical stall breakers.
@grrlann I dont "workout" workout every day. I judt try to get at least 30 min of exercuse a day. Sometimes its just a decent walk with hubby. Most days its an aqua aerobics class. I havent really started weight lifting yet.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
