I am one week post-op, so I am allowed to have scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, and Beans.

I've never eaten cottage cheese. How do you eat it? Do you eat anything with it?

I used to eat cottage cheese mixed with canned fruit almost every day, switching between FF and low fat with ease. With new diet restrictions I recently bought 5 containers of cottage cheese on good sale. They only had FF left and it was not tasty without the hi carb fruit. Not wanting to toss it out I looked for a low carb recipe online. I found a pudding recipe that include powdered FF sugar free pudding mix and cottage cheese. This was great as my diet also includes FF sugar free pudding. FF milk one would normally prepare the pudding with has high carbs. I tweaked the recipe to eliminate the milk it called for and increased the cottage cheese. It tastes great. The blender breaks down the curds so don't see them. Then I started adding cottage cheese to my diet shakes, and processing it in a 16 oz single serve blender.

I eat 4 oz of cottage cheese (1/2 cup) with 1 tablespoon of Smucker's sugar free strawberry preserves stirred in twice a day (and I have since the food stages). I love it! I start and end my day with it because I like it so much!

I eat it on a regular basis but when I was going through the pureed stage I blended some fruit to add in with it. Now I had a few slices of peaches or pears to a 1/2 cup now that I'm back to regular food. Like blizair said I'll also mix in some strawberry or raspberry preserves in too which is really good. Other times I'll eat it plain and add a 1/2 packet of Splenda or Sweet & Low to add a little sweetness to it.

Early on I used to eat it on it's own.... Now I eat it with carrots or celery. Always a good snack choice!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
