My first visit with the NUT was a nightmare. She wants to change my diet. I had been on a super strict high Protein-low carb diet. No she wants to have me eat 4 to 5 times the carbs I was eating, as well as reduce my Proteins. I had been eating 1000 cal or less. She wants me to eat 1200. I am scared. I am going to start gaining weight. What if I follow the plan that I have been following as once Oct. will the Dr refuse to do my surgery do to non compliance? Will she refuse me if I am compliant but gain weight?

Perhaps put the situation in a letter to the surgeon. Lay out what your weight was before starting your low carb diet, your carb, Protein, fat, and caloric consumption.

Then describe the nut's plan. Explain you are willing to try the new plan, but are concerned about potential weight gain on that plan, and the willingness of the surgeon to perform the surgery if you have gained weight.

Your nut knows what's she is talking about, trust her. You're eating way too few calories now for a preop patient, perhaps screwing up your metabolism permanently and setting yourself up for failure even with a surgery. If you're not clear on exactly why she asked you to do this, call her back and make her explain it again. Express your concerns, and if you're still not convinced, call back and speak with a different nutritionist for a second opinion. These people serve an awful lot of bariatric patients, trust their expertise and education.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
