fluffyinks 0 Posted October 19, 2007 Hi all.... Day 4 for me and I am sooo much better. Actually, the turning point for me was yesterday afternoon. I still have some gas pain, but moving and walking help a lot. I am so happy to move on to full liquids, enough already of the clears! Cream Soup and sugar free/fat free ice cream have tasted great. I also do like the Special K Protien drink. My DH and I are traveling to Colorado this afternoon for a quick business/family get together. I am kind of nervous about the travel (6 1/2 hrs) and the eating out part of the weekend, but will do my best to stick to the rules. I am so very happy to be banded and now that the worst is over, Life is Good! Hugs---Jackie
nume130 0 Posted October 19, 2007 I was banded on the 5, 2 weeks today and I can finally say I am feeling better. I still have the pain in my chest, it was a fist, but now more the size of a golf ball, by the way it feels. I can finally take in about 4- -50 ounces fluids and a tiny bit of puree. When you can get enough nutrition in- boy what a difference!
Saintluver 1 Posted October 19, 2007 What did you do to get over the nausea?? I have it but I think a lot of it is from all the sweet liquids...
lovekatz1975 1 Posted October 19, 2007 I found the nausea went away after a week or so. It's because of all the internal swelling.
hope36ca 0 Posted October 20, 2007 How long did your throat bother you. Mine still does. Its driving me crazy?
nume130 0 Posted October 20, 2007 It wasn't my throat, it was my chest that bothered me.

Carrot06 0 Posted October 20, 2007 I threw up a few times too. And my first 5 days were awful with nausea. Are you drinking enough? I felt so sick I know I wasn't, and the dehydration was adding to the problem. Try to keep as hydrated as you can. The pain meds actually made my nausea worse, so you may want to switch to liquid Tylenol if you can. Did you surgeon prescribe you some medicine for nausea? Mine did and I religiously took it when feeling ill to try to avoid throwing up. You don't want to throw up if possible.
dustout 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Day 5 (almost 6) post-op. I too still have the feeling of needing to burp or something but can't... this happens when I'm standing mostly. I figured out though that if I suck in my abdomen sometimes it helps me to burp a huge burp and this helps. I think the way the stomach is bent around the band from the temporary stitches causes extra air to get stuck.... plus some of the gas from surgery is probably not helping either. I'm hoping this will end up going away soon.

nicnaknut 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Hi all, Today was a little rough for me at first, I was real weak and I think it is because of the clear liquid diet, so I had a yogurt smoothie and laid down and took a nice nap.. When I woke I was hungry so I had a bowl of cream of wheat and it went down real nicely and I have felt alot better since then... I am pretty much off of the pain meds except for nighttime and that is so I can sleep.... My throat was never really sore, but it was very dry and I would get real hoarse from it... I had plenty of gas and fortunately I never had any of the bad gas pains that some of the others have had, I just rooted and tooted a lot... I do have a slight allergy to the bandages on my incisions.... It is red and itchy along the edges and have little blisters, so I am cutting off the corners of the bandages until I go see the Dr next week and hopefully he will take them off.... Good Luck and Get Well Wishes to all of the newly banded...
Carrot06 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Nicnaknut- how do you make your yogurt smoothies? I am looking for some good healthy smoothie ideas.
dustout 0 Posted October 21, 2007 My doctor has me on full liquids for 2 weeks after surgery. This includes Protein Meal Replacement drinks, Soups, Jello, dilluted pudding, and uh... that's mostly it. I'm sick of it. The Protein Drinks make me sick just thinking about drinking them but I have to. The flavor of all of them but the chocolate flavors (chocolate, mocha, chocolate pudding, hot cocoa) grosses me out. Unfortunately I only got one pack of chocolate. I may have to make a trip to get other flavors before I go crazy! Seven days left of full liquids. Then it's only to mushies. I can't wait for scrambled eggs! I LOVE scrambled eggs! I will probably cry from the joy of having something edible in my mouth. lol
midwife72 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Hello my October friends. I turned 35 on the 18th and am celebrating by getting banded on Monday the 22nd. Insurance gave me the run aound, but they finallt decided to pay, so now, it feels real. I hear that most of the Protein Shakes are gross. Any recommendations? MistyDTX 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Congrats to all the new October bandsters! I'm 19 days post op and starting to eat REAL food again. I have no restriction which is scary and my doc won't do a fill for 3 months post-op. I'm worried that I won't be able to maintain any loss, especially throughout the holidays! As for the Protein drinks, I bought some from my doctor it's his own product and he sells it online too...AmazeRX. The strawberry cheesecake is really good and has 17 g of protein per serving. I also like the Boost shakes, I've had many of them through this journey!
