Define "cheat"?.

One doesn't cheat. He or she makes a choice to disregard his or her surgeon's instructions. My advice is to not do that. There is a reason for the pre-op diet, and if one can't manage to adhere to those specifications, how would he or she adhere to the post-op food stages when it could literally be a life or death situation? Think about it...

I can understand post op, but preop there are many, including my surgeon who does not have their patients do any type of preop diet.
We are required to just have Clear Liquids the day before surgery. With that being said, you should always adhere to what your surgeon tells you. Post op it could be life threatening if you do not follow the doctors instructions.

I was allowed 4 oz of lean meat if necessary the first week and I took advantage of that so I could sleep thru the nite. The last thing I ate at nite, approx 8 pm.

I was allowed FF sugar free pudding which has a lot of carbs, especially after adding FF milk so I exceeded my carb limit alot until I nixed the milk and started preparing the mix with cottage cheese and Water. I never paid attention to carbs before so this was a great learning experience. I've always been old school/low fat.

I lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks and Doc said my blood work (60 mg/l sugar? not sure of the units but normally I have close to 100 sugars) and liver looked fine. But my stomach was one of the longest he has seen. Definitely the longest for a low BMI.

If you stick to the liquid diet you will feel so much better after the fourth day. I was able to breath better and it seemed that my walking improved dramatically. Also the confidence that you will gain as the pounds come off during the liquid stage is Amazing!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
