band size??

Hello everyone

What's the deal with the different band sizes?? Is this determined by your doctor, preop weight, BMI or what??? Does anyone know what the criteria is with the band size?

My doc used the 4cc, he explained he had the 10cc there, but because I wasn't that big, (lol), I would only need the smaller band. Therefore, I would have assumed the preop weight was a factor, but Blossom started at about my weight and her doc used the 10...go figure?

One size does not fit all, that's all there is to it. And the amount of weight someone has to lose doesn't necessarily correspond to their inner anatomy, so there's no way to predict which size will be appropriate for a given patient until the doctor is inside and looking around.

I'm glad they have options, but it's no more meaningful to one's success than one's shoe size is to the ability to walk. Your doctor makes the right choice for you at the time of surgery.
