I am 8 days post op for BYPASS and I am just exhausted/ weak.

Everytime I am trying to do stuff - cook for my family , laundry, take a shower I just feel so drained.

My surgeons office said it's normal but.......Ughhhh lol!!!!

Had anyone else had this to ?

This is soooo normal . Stop worrying about it. Listen to your bodies, people. Rest, heal eat or drink what you are told. Don't over do it or you will regret it, trust me. If you can't already follow post op instructions you are in trouble.

Absolutely normal...everyone's recovery time varies. Not that you are but try not to compare yourself to other people who have had the surgery. The best thing you can do for yourself right now is take the time to listen to your body. I have been a mentor/educator for almost 3 years, also a patient, and I have worked with a lot of fellow patients who ignored what their body was telling them. Such as lifting things that were to heavy to soon. Some developed infections under their incisions or hernias. Remember those incisions on the skin are just points of entry you have had a dramatic surgery. I often have to talk to spouses and children and explain this to them in hopes that they will be more helpful. Best of luck to you and much success.

I ended up have a GI bleed - a large ulcer !!
I get so sick, passed out, had a seizure and vomited a ton of blood:(
I was admitted for 2 days - IV meds, blood transfusion Ect....
Lesson learned - always listen to my body!!
I knew I was so tired and weak for days but didn't realize there was something wrong !!!

Please take it easy and allow your body to heal, I hope you're feeling better soon. I gave my family a "to do" list and that worked out great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
