I am scheduled to get gastric sleeve in April in Mexico and my husband can't get a passport so I am going without a companion. I am a little scared and nervous. Has anyone else done this alone?

You should be able to get a passport in time by April.

If you physically go to State Department office which are far and few between you'd stay a better chance. Even with rush processing it would be cutting it really close depending on when in April the surgery is. You'll have to pay the extra processing/shipping fees but it may yet be possible.

I will have a passport but my husband can't. So I will be doing this alone which makes me a little scared to be alone. But, I am doing this!

I can only speak about my Experience with BariatricPal but two other women had the surgery the same day I had mine and the did not have a companion. Both women had no problems and enjoyed their selves especially on the two days at the Hotel and shopping. The Valets take the Very Best Care of you and Treat you like Family ( You know the side of your Family that you actually like.)

My friend went alone and had a great experience... I'll be going alone in May and I am not nervous at all from her experience and others I've read on here and instagram and watched on YouTube

I just ordered two passports last month and they came in three weeks and that wasn't even with their rushed service. If you order this week, and pay an additional $60 for having it rushed, you should have it within 2 weeks.

Oh good for you! My husband can't be with me for my surgery. He has work commitments he just can't get out of and that's ok. I hate inconveniencing people, but I don't think the University of Chicago will let me have the surgery alone. I'm so glad it's working out for you...big hugs!!!

When in April are you going and what clinic? I'm also planning for April but can't decide between Mexican Bariatric or Alo Bariatric.

Keep me posted how it goes.

I am scheduled April 10th with Dr. Illan in Mexico. I know 2 people here in my rural town that went to him 6 months ago and have no regrets.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
