Post Op Depression

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm 7 days post op and having the worst cravings and feeling depressed. How have you all handled this? I surely don't want to ruin my pouch but I'm having the hardest time on this liquid diet. I have three weeks to go and don't feel like I can make it.

I know exactly how you feel! I suffer from depression and the liquid diet really wore on me. In the 2nd week when we can incorporate Protein Shakes I got the chocolate muscle milk to help with needing something sweet that filled me up and kept me full but with no sugar or carbs. I also strained many different types of Soups to mix it up, but only the creamy kind, not too thick. I know it's hard but before you know it you'll be onto week 3 and able to incorporate a little more! Hang in there!

I know exactly how you feel but this to shall pass at the moment you have made this huge sacrifice and feel miserable and you haven't seen any major results yet have you done the rite thing what have you done to yourself those types of thoughts well I promise it gets better it will take a few more weeks and you will be feeling better less fragile emotionally and physically I'm now almost 1 year out and I couldn't imagine myself slimmer and wondered what the hell I had done
This shall pass and you will be so happy and you will lose weight just focus on rest and fluids

It's the worst, right? I think the depression is in full force while you're on liquids and even purees and you just feel like a sick patient all the time instead of a person. One good thing to do is to take care of yourself in non-food ways: mani/pedi, get your hair done, try on makeup at sephora, relax with some scented candles and a good book...and try to crush the cravings with sweet and savory both Protein mixes. I found after a week of my sweet chocolate Protein Shakes all I wanted was salty savory Soup. There are companies that make savory protein flavors! It's really hard, but you were strong enough to do this surgery and make this lifestyle change; you'll be strong enough to make it through the hard parts :780_sparkling_heart:

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
