Everything tastes different

Recommended Posts

Anyone else not like half the things you liked before surgery? I'm extremely picky now and it's hard to find things I like anymore and some days I like it other days it tastes funny[emoji55]🤔🤔🤔🤔

My tastes totally changed. I have a hard time finding things to eat because of it. It makes eating a chore.

It's frustrating isn't it! Lol it actually has made me a fantastic cook though. I can't stand frozen boxed pre made food anymore so I just make everything from scratch and now it taste fine. Processed food helped get us to the mess we had become so steer clear of that baby.

I'm only four weeks out and I can eat anything only small portions, yet everything tastes different. I don't enjoy food the way I did before, it's simply fuel now. It's a good thing but sad too.

Me too! I was starting to get worried, thinking it was only me. I can't think of anything I enjoy eating now, trouble is my mind thinks I will and then when I taste it nothing happens! Lol. I am pleased really as my enjoyment of food and eating out got me needing help! I just miss the socialising...at the moment meeting up with friends etc is often challenging and overwhelming as it often consists of food and alcohol and they don't know I've had the bypass

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
