Hi everyone. Thursday will be 1 year surgiversary. I am over the moon that I have made it so far. That I have made so much progress. But at the same time, I am very concerned about my food. I am still weighing all of my food and will not eat anymore after that weighed food. Even if I still want more/still hungry. Is anyone else going through struggles with food at this late stage?

Thanks in advance everyone!

Hi I am. I noticed I've put on 3 lbs. & I find myself craving junk food again. Not nearly as bad as before the surgery. I need to meal prep that's when I am feeling more satisfied & not so tempted. I'm so happy to have this weight off I don't ever want to go back there again, but it scares me my mom had gastric bypass surgery & she has regained about 35lbs. from where she should be. It creeps up on you. I think it's smart to weigh your food if that's what you need to do. Maybe try eating more food items throughout the day but make sure they have fewer calories so you don't go above your calorie count.
Wishing you the best.

I think it is smarty to keep weighing and tracking even a year out if you can not stop yourself from eating more. when I stopped weighing and tracking I know I was eating more than I should. I have gone back to tracking and I feel much better. Some people can eye it better than others. I am about 9 1/2 months out.

I used to worry about eating too much before surgery. Now I worry about eating too much after surgery, and I worry that I'll stop worrying!

Worry is a form of vigilance, and it gets old, but I think it's for the best. If I'm ever fortunate enough to not need to stress about it, great. Until then, stressing about it means I still care and will be more disciplined.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
