JustMe2017 14 Posted March 13, 2017 I just had someone tell me that they won't do surgery if you've had a tattoo within the last 6 months. Has anyone ever heard that or know a reason why you couldn't have surgery because of a tattoo? I'm confused....
nitasjourney 49 Posted March 13, 2017 They never even asked me that question so I am interested in the answer

JustMe2017 14 Posted March 13, 2017 Well, I was asked by the hospital when they scheduled my endoscopy and I thought it was odd so I asked around and a coworker said they can refuse surgery if you had a new tattoo. It sounds weird to me too. I thought I'd throw it out here and see if anyone had that be an issue. I will update if I get a solid answer. Newme17 3,444 Posted March 13, 2017 (edited) Looked it up, fresh tattoos pose a risk of a possible skin infection and if it's too close to the surgery, most surgeons don't want to run the risk of an infection occurring with surgery. gryffen 176 Posted March 14, 2017 Down to infection risk, it's a 12 month wait here if you get a tattoo for surgery unless it's life threatening.
