Has anybody eaten ground beef a month after sleeve ? I have a recipe for chili stuffed sweet potatoes and it calls for lean ground beef. I could probably swap it out for like turkey meat but I would honestly rather have the beef.

What does your plan say? I wasn't able to add ground beef until Week 7 post-op on my plan.

My plan had me on ground beef about 2 weeks out, but I don't eat it often because it feels super heavy in my pouch when I eat it, ground turkey helped better. Try it see how you tolerate it, but I'd suggest make it as moist as possible

Hmm it depends I'm 3 months out and sometimes ground beef makes me sick. I guess it depends on the person and their body, so I would go with turkey

I'm all good with mince except when it's dry ... omg last week I spent an hour with bad pains in my chest. Won't be doing that again for at least another week lol

I couldn't have it until 4 weeks out, but I agree...you want it to be as moist as possible. I make mini meatloafs in a cupcake pan. While they taste wonderful they can sit like a ton of bricks. I try and mix in some sour cream and/or picante sauce to give it a little more moisture. It's something that you want to definitely take your time eating. There are times where I can feel that it's going to sit heavy so I'll walk away and come back to finish it. Honestly ground beef is the only thing I've had so far that has been mildly difficult to eat.

Same here, well actually all beef has been rough for me to eat, ground is hit or miss, so I don't even bother most the time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
