momto6kids 21 Posted March 12, 2017 I'm worried about a lot of things but I'm mostly afraid I'm going to go through all of this and not loose much weight and this will have all been for nothing. My current weight is 211lbs and my bmi is 35. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol and I'm 41 :-/ Any encouragement would be wonderful. 1 MsShortyDee reacted to this
Joann454 1,329 Posted March 12, 2017 I'm worried about that too! I wonder if it's a common thing or a way to talk ourselves out of surgery? Anxious to see the replies. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 1 MsShortyDee reacted to this
pvechiola 195 Posted March 12, 2017 I have my last nut meeting on the 20th March, and I'm having feeling anxious about the surgery also, but then I remember all the years I spent not following thru and doing it, that reassures me of why I am doing it. MelMac72 20 Posted March 12, 2017 Don't let the nerves get to you. I am 44 and was sleeved on November 7, 2016 and no longer have high blood pressure or cholesterol issues. The only reason you won't lose weight is if you don't follow your surgeon's and dietician's advice. I only had discomfort in the first few days in hospital until they took the drain out. After that I found it easy. I found that planning every meal and changing our old routine of finding something quick and easy at the shop on the way home from work to planning a weekly menu on Sunday and shopping only for that menu. I also started baking school foods and stopped using sugar in it and used dextrose instead. All of these changes and a supportive family have made my journey easier. A good bariatric Multivitamin is a must. My weight loss has slowed in the the last few weeks to 0.5kg a week, but I know why. I have made a couple of bad choices, thinking that I can eat normal food means I can have a bad food choices but I've found that pizza doesn't taste the same so no more pizza for me. I also haven't been as active. It's the best feeling when you get to go through the wardrobe and getting rid of the bigger sizes and I now have a next size down selection of clothes. There is no feeling like walking into a boutique clothing store and being able to try on what I call skinny clothes. You can do it and you will make it happen. I that my experience helps ease your nerves.

MelMac72 20 Posted March 12, 2017 These are all the worries I have. I'm afraid I won't be able to change my eating habits. You are going to great lengths to get the surgery, once you see the weight start to drop you do change your thinking. It takes 3 weeks to form a habit. Use the first month after surgery to change your ways. I don't know what you have been given as a post op diet, but mine was mostly savoury which helped me because I previously had a very sweet tooth. 3 weeks after surgery, I drank 120ml of store bought iced coffee in one sitting and about an hour later I started getting the sweats and stomach cramps so I ran to the loo. I was dumping because of the excess sugar in the drink. Once you experience this, you soon change your mindset. You can do this, you have already started the change with the courage to have the surgery. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
linasg 26 Posted March 13, 2017 How did the surgery go today?
AZLoser 103 Posted March 13, 2017 I had those same thoughts pre surgery. Once you do this you won't worry as much. I was sleeved end of December and so happy I chose to do it. Let us know how you're doing. The first couple of weeks are hard but just follow orders and know it gets easier. 1 JeanieLA reacted to this

MsShortyDee 160 Posted March 13, 2017 Hey ladies. I got so nervous the day of my surgery that i started to shake. it became my real at that moment. I was visiting my coworkers at the time. i had to sit down. after a few minutes it went away. along with my sister, two coworkers went across the street with me. i never asked them. they said they were coming and i didn't complain. Now i am 3 1/2 months post op and doing great. YOU CAN DO IT. take it one day at a time. keep your gas x strips handy. move alot. i only spent one night in the hospital. my nurses said that i probably didn't have the gas pains because i moved around so much in the bed and i walked alot. JeanieLA 6 Posted March 13, 2017 (edited) I understand where you're coming from. I had so many delays leading up to my surgery that I almost gave up. BUT ,talking to my kids and grandkids, they all gave me the courage I needed to follow thru. You have to remember tho its your choice, you have to believe in yourself and have faith that what you do is for your health and well being. I had my surgery March 9 so I'm about 3 days the other side and i won't sugar coat it... it's still a battle every day, the pain ,trying to stay hydrated, being scared you're doing something wrong... but follow the instructions given, try ,try, try and every morning you wake up ,you're 1 more day beyond and 1 more day closer to your goal!!! Oh I am 57 with 6 kids, 17 grandkids age 23yrs to 2mo, 3 great grandkids age 4yrs to 9mo. arringtonc49 188 Posted March 13, 2017 I felt the same way.i had surgery 3/10/17. It was the best choice I made. Yes it is a change in my life but worth it. My health is my priority. I was going to cancel the day before but when I joined this support group it really helped me. So many positive responses. I thank God for the wonderful people who responded. I was really Scared butI am glad I stepped out on faith. My husband has also supported me which really meant a lot.So keep doing everything you suppose to do and you will be Fine! 1 gjb2017 reacted to this

Although I asked a similar question about my insurance and got no responses. Maybe more folks have your insurance and can assist you? Worth a try. 1 Mistilew reacted to this
