I was 6 weeks in and only lost 8lbs between my 2 week post op appointment and my 6 week. Devastated to say the least. The nurse practitioner was happy about it and looking at the overall picture that I've lost 41 lbs since pre op diet. Made me feel okay, but couldn't help but still beat myself up. Then I met with my NUT and going over what I'm eating she was like yeah you need to eat more even if it's a couple of bites because your body is in starvation mode, so I started eating more and the weight started coming off again. Use your stall as motivation evaluate what you're eating (or in my case not eating) and see what you can do to break that stall!

Yay!!!! I'm glad you had listened to your nutritionist to eat more! Our bodies cannot sustain such a low intake of food/calories for so long. Break those stalls with a few more bites. Good for you. And thank you for sharing this, I hope many are encouraged when they get to a stall.

Thank you, and I hope many are encouraged too. I see so many people upset by the stall, so I wanted to share my story and kind of help them see a different perspective of instead of dreading it let it motivate you to break it and keep working towards that weight loss goal!

Hello janedoe92,

How many calories do you consume in a day...or what is your calorie goal?

Thanks!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
