Hello Forum!

I'm so glad I've found this site. We have a support group here, but they meet once a month.

I was recently banded on 9/19...so I'm through my first week and starting the second. I had no complications and was back to work on Monday. Since I started the process with a liquid diet 2 weeks before, I've lost 21lbs...only 4 last week, but I'm hoping to get a fill on Thursday for more weight loss.

I slowly started adding soft foods this week...an egg, thin slices of ham, and tuna. Lots of Soups mixed in along the way.

Since I've started soft foods, I feel like I'm still eating too much even though it's literally just ounces that I'm having. We'll see what my Dr suggests at my visit.

I look forward to chatting with everyone and reading about your weight loss journey.

I'm new and trying to use this site. Not sure what I am doing but maybe can reach someone to get feedback for banding. I will go in on Oct. 11th and am very scared..... Would love to chat with anyone who has had the banding or who has had it for 2 years or more. Thanks

futuremoments,

I'm not banded yet but I can assure you that what you are feeling is normal. I hang around this list a bit and I can tell you that most of the bandits on here have felt the same way you do right now.

If you weren't scared there would be something wrong.

Just think though, in a few days you will be starting on one of the most exciting journeys of your life. A healthier and perhaps happier you. I won't say a new and improved you because you don't need to be new or improved - bandits just need to be a little less than they were :rose:

wheresmyknight,

What a terrific loss!!!!:clap2: You must have had a very good recovery to be back at work in a week. Here in Australia they recommend 2 weeks off work - some go back earlier some don't.

It probably seems like you are eating a lot because of your time on liquids and because you are getting full faster. 4 pounds in one week is really good - would you have lost that much on a diet if you hadn't been banded?

Well as you can see I get a bit long winded. lol

Good luck in your journeys and keep in touch.

Hi All,

I too have just discovered this site and I am loving it. I have my first appointment on Friday! I am so excited and my husband is behind me 100% :kiss2:

I have read a lot about slippage :omg: and it scares the heck out of me. Most of the slipped bands seemed to be from 2004-2005. I am hoping that they have come along since then. My doctor said that I'll be getting the new band that the fill ballon goes all the way around the band, any one else heard of this. I guess it is quite new.

Hi Goldie1109,

I asked the nurse at my surgeon's office about slips - she says they happen but not very often. Most of the bands now have the inflation go all the way around.

I was banded 4 days ago and went through all the fears beforehand,i was walking around the hospital after 2 days and now have little pain or discomfort. It is worth it for your heath and happiness

Thanks for your reply. I am only worried because I will be a self-pay and I don't have the money to do this over...I want it to be my one and only band. The doctor and hospital are both certified exelcent in WA and he told me that the band will out last me...

Hi Goldie! I too have my first appointment on Friday!! I have been looking into this surgery for 2 years now, and I finally have the insurance (and ambition!) to move along with things. Also, I went to a seminar that is required before getting an appointment, there was so much information to take in, but one of the things I remember the surgeon saying is that they do 3 (I think 3..) stitches around the band to hold in in place. Thus lessening the change for slippage or erosion:) Just wanted to share. Best wishes to you on your journey!:rose: ~Kerri

Yes, at the seminar the doctor said it was all in the technic of sewing the band.

Good luck on your journey!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
