For what it's worth, I had a hernia taken care of in conjunction with a hysterectomy two years ago. That was a fairly major operation--not laparascopic--but the hernia part was almost unnoticeable in terms of how I felt afterwards--other than being glad it didn't stick out any more! Your mileage may vary, of course, but I wouldn't stress about it at all.

This is a hiatal hernia located right at the end of the esophagus and the stomach so it has to be repaired before I can get my sleeve done. Thank you very much for your support looking forward to getting this taken care of next month.

Wow...,so you aren't full liquid yet? I was on liquid right away...premier Protein, Water, sf popsicles, sf Jello and broth. What are you eating now?

Sorry haven't been back here for a while.
I am doing much better, blasting through the full liquids and tempting the purred stage. I am mostly eating the full liquids and puréed Soups. Premier shakes for my protein. I will try cottage cheese today. What are your best protein foods you like? Hope your well.

Since I'm on liquids pre-op I do drink Premier Protein only the chocolates. I've tried many different Proteins and can tolerate them but Premier Protein seems to work. I know post-surgery I'll be on liquids for a while before going to pureed food I'll be very anxious to get some regular food and me even though it's just pureed. Wishing you well speedy recovery..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
