Happy and frustrated at the same time

Recommended Posts

Just got the call that I'm approved but the soonest I can have the surgery is April 13th. I'm happy for the approval but I am so ready to get on with this surgery. I have to move out of my apartment the following week and I have already extended my lease to that time because I expected 3/30 date. The surgeons office never submitted my paperwork to insurance after my appointment on 2/14 so when I followed up 2 weeks later insurance had no record of the submission. The dr's office person gave such a lame excuse I just tried to brush it off, but now I just want to cry... why am I crying??? This is way more stress than I need right now. I'm so emotional right now, I have other stuff going on too, just got the divorce papers in the mail plus life in general, but seriously I should just be happy right? Please tell me I should be happy! Writing this helped...I hope your journeys for this are quick, painless and life renewing[emoji6]...I hope the same for me too [emoji846]

Thanks... just had the mini meltdown there but I'm already feeling better about it. I know it will go by fast.

My surgery was my moving day--it was stressful but it worked out. Enlist as many helpers as you can and make sure anything you immediately need is accessible because you are not going to feel like unpacking lol. good luck and congrats on the approval!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
