October, 2007 -- my new and improved life begins!

Recommended Posts

Hi - my name is Judy and I live in north central Ohio. I've been thinking about and planning to be banded for a few months, but now its really going to happen. I start my pre-op 'drinking' on October 10th. My surgery is the 16th.

I'm not too worried about the six day starvation, but wonder how it went for those of you who are far past that and on your way to some 'thin-ness' ??

Nice to be here with you all! :)

Am I doing something wrong? I haven't had any responses yet ... confused here...

Nothing wrong. Just the way of message boards, I suppose. Some posts get responses and others don't.

I'm way behind you but good luck!

I was banded 7 days ago. It really wasn't bad at all. I was sore, like I had done too many crunches, the first few days and now I have just a little soreness on my left side. I have been on a clear liquid diet since last monday and at times it has been hard but all in all not that bad. I have lost 20lbs. I would do it all over again and I am looking forward to my new self. Good luck! It is so worth it! Sarah

I lost 7 pounds on my pre-op diet. I was just banded on Friday, September 28 and the gas is bothering me the most. Good luck to you on your journey!

Hi Top down bug, Congrats on getting your date and weight loss so far. I'm from NE Ohio, and my date is Oct. 2nd. Have you checked out the October monthly board (the TENacious Tens) or the Ohio board, we would love to have you on both. Anyway good luck, and keep us posted on how your are doing.

I didn't have to do a pre-op "liquid" diet. My surgeon put me on the Sugar Busters diet for about 3 weeks and I lost 13lbs. Congratulations on getting a date. Good luck!:clap2:

Hi, my name is Kathy and I'm flying to Mexico to have lap-band surgery done. My surgery date is Oct. 9th. Have most of you had this done in the states or in Mexico? I'm afraid of getting sick especially on the flight home. ( yes my daughter just posted in a differant area to show me how to do this, so bare with me) Is there anyone out there from Wisconsin? I also have severe fibromyalgia and hurt all the time so I'm scared this is going to effect me in negative ways. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
