8 Weeks Post Surgery I'm So glad to have found this site !

Recommended Posts

Hi ! I’m Lisa, a 25 yo graduate student :glasses from NY, and I was banded on July 31, 2007. I only just came across this site a few days ago, but I think that this will be a great support system, and I look forward to getting to know everyone !My last known pre-op weight was taken on 7/27/07 and I weighed in at 342 lbs, (although I am sure it was even higher last year when I was pregnant). I am now down to 301 pounds. I feel great with “only” 41 pounds gone and feel like I now stand a chance at living a normal, happy and productive life!!! Though there are times when I wish that the weight would come off faster. I had my first fill on 9/14/07 and have felt VERY restricted ever since.

I think that my biggest challenge has been chewing enough and not rushing to get done eating to go check on DS.

Cheers !

:welcome: ivyrose325,

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. Don't try to lose the weight too fast - it is tough to take it slow but always best for your body.

Keep in touch and good luck with the rest of your journey.

THANKS FOR THE WELCOME!

Karen, I'm in Staten Island and had my surgery done at Staten Island University Hospital, by Dr. Heather McMullen. The thing about being in NY is that there are so many great hospitals that preform the surgery. Where was yours done ?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
