6 months post op...CAN'T EAT!!!

Recommended Posts

Sadly, Midatlantic surgical associates and the hospital was Penninsula Regional (Salisbury) That place is a dump and the nurses are all b*****s. I wanted to go to Johns Hopkins but the wait for a first appointment was 7 months!! I should have waited.

A good friend of mine is a nutrition freak and a former body builder, he says I need physical therapy focused on strengthening. So, I see my cardiologist on the 13th, I am going to ask him to write me a script for that. I just wish I could eat a little bite or 2 without throwing it up or being in pain for hours.

What you are experiencing isn't right, but you do have some choices.

Have you had any tests to see why you are having these problems? If not, and your surgeon isn't willing to look into it, then you'll need to look elsewhere.

Your regular family doc can refer you to a gastroenterologist. The GI doc can order tests.

There is also the possibility of switching bariatric doctors. There is a program in Annapolis that you could check out. (I don't know anything about it.. just that it is there).

If things become an emergency, like you can't drink, then you can go to the emergency room at Hopkins. Always choose an ER of a hospital that has bariatric surgeons so you have the chance of seeing one of them. Not saying you will.. but at least the possibility exists.

Physical therapy is nice, but if you can't keep down food, that is your problem, and exercise won't fix it.

Please be proactive getting some help. Don't wait so long that it becomes a life-or-death situation.

I just started a topic (about the evening carb cravings) where I am scared of my LACK of restriction at only seven WEEKS, not months, out! I can eat beef and chicken and eggs. Last night I caved and ate a cookie. I don't know if I have much restriction at all. I'm only eating max three ounces of anything but I wonder what restriction I even have any more. I used to stop after two bites. I WANTED to be forced to eat tiny amounts. I ENJOYED not having hunger.

I hope the effects of surgery stay with me because i know it will take a year to lose all my excess weight since I am a low BMIer.

I have been to the ER here in Easton many times. I do have an appointment with the bariatric Dr in Annapolis in November.

All my labs have come back perfect, no deficiencies at all ( I manage to keep my chewable son down pretty well, strange but good) electrolytes are good and I am hydrated.

i think my stoma is too small.

I do agree that I should go to the ER at Hopkins. I think that's going to be my best bet.

So glad to hear you are actively looking for a fix and that your bloodwork is good.

Good luck with Hopkins and the place in Annapolis!

4 months post opp. Can only tolerate Protein Shakes sometimes. Typical day for me is 1-2 Protein shakes and a bottle of Water if I'm lucky.. Occasionally a bite of soft food. Most of what I eat / drink comes back up. Rny dec 3 2020. Been on iv fluids since mid December 2020 . All scans and tests are normal.. Noone can tell me why I'm so sick. Surgeon finally told me it must just be in my head. Like thanks . Cause i want to throw up and be weak and have headaches and spend all my time at infusion clinics or Dr apts 😭

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
