Hey there. I'm having surgery on April 5th. We should keep in touch. I also started a Facebook support and advice page for those of us going thru WlS in the next month. There is a group of good people on there and it is nice to have that kind of encouragement. Please feel free to join if you'd like.

@hajoura_sweet omg please tell me all about it!! on a scale of 1-10 how bad was the pain when you woke up? Were you able to get up and walk the same day? Was this your first surgery or a revision? Can't wait to hear back from you.

Hey sweetie! Really really it's not all that bad and today i went out shopping with my daughter!

It's so funny that you ask that! When i woke up from anastasia the first thing the nurse asked me was "on a scale of 1 - 10 how bad is your pain" and i answered 4 .. don't worry about a thing you'll be perfectly fine!

I slept alot for the first 2 days i don't even remember them clearly hahah

Also i should tell you something very important.. the first day or 2 you will feel like you've made a massive mistake and you will regret it. But thats the bit of you that tells you to take a second slice of cake and another chocolate now... push through it ok hun! Don't let that side of you trap you.. many people have lost tons of weight and kept it off.

In hospital when i wanted to walk i would feel a sharp pain on the lower left side of my stomach that was very unpleasant. Thats due to no bowel movements. But you won't nesaseraly experience that.

This was my first surgery

I can promise you by day 4 / 5 you won't feel pain or have any discomfort (except maybe using the toilet)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
