I'm almost 10 wks post VSG and have found that during my monthly cycle I can actually eat more and I always feel hungry. It's only during this time that I get that feeling of hunger. I know its hormones but anyone else feel they can actually eat more during their cycle?

We might have had our stomachs removed but our wombs are still our mortal enemy!!! hahah!! From having erratic periods to heavy flows to hormones flooding our system to PMS food cravings, holy CRAP is it a mine field. lol!

I crave chocolates and fries when I'm PMSing. So I have a hershey kiss or two and steal some of my BFF's fries. Like, I"m not gonna order fries and I'm not gonna buy a snickers but Imma gonna need a little be more during those times and I've given myself permission.

The mood swings are hard enough to deal with! haha! these estrogen waves I'm riding really suck. Like, I have a crush on my coworker now, whom I've worked with for 2 years. Yet 2 months ago I basically did the equivalent of writing his name in my notebook a millions times. ahaha! I'm a 42 year old woman CRUSHING on a guy? Puuuulease! Hormones At Work over here, flooding my system due to weightloss and the hormones stored in fat. ugh. lol!

I totally agree with you and Lizzie. I feel like I am more hungry and able to eat more at different points in my cycle. On the flip side there are also times in my cycle when I eat even less than I am allowed. Like Lizzie I allow myself to indulge a little but during those hungry days. Halo ice cream and Russel Stover sugar free candies have gotten me through the worst of the craving days. I figure in the end it all balances out if I don't overdo it. :)

Thanks ladies. Its good to know I'm not alone in this craziness. I just feel like I have never ending hunger today. Obviously I'm not giving in but I did treat myself to a little snack a work this afternoon which I never do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
