kerry.a 2 Posted March 7, 2017 Hi. I had surgery yesterday, March 6, and every time I try to burp or hiccup to release gas I am vomiting. I have been taking three different types of nausea medication, sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. Any advise?
orionburn 1,024 Posted March 7, 2017 Can you rule out that the medication isn't making you feel sick? I don't recall what I was on at the hospital but I discovered it was the cause of my nausea. I would use it and then it would cause me to wretch a few minutes later. Didn't happen every time but enough to be of major annoyance.
kerry.a 2 Posted March 7, 2017 I've been trying to not use the pain medication, thinking that was the problem, but it is still every time I pass gass. The pain medication was definitely only making things worse for me as it did not agree with my stomach at all. Maybe the lingering effects of it still in my system? dg371 50 Posted March 11, 2017 I was gassy and nauseas and retched for 4 days. My surgery was March 6th. I could barely drink anything so I had to stay an extra day in the hospital. I finally started to feel better after taking some gasx chewables. Today I feel great!
linasg 26 Posted March 21, 2017 You could ask for a change of pain meds and switch to pump on demand instead of drip. Perhaps it'll help?
