Are there any people in London Ontario who have been banded.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am in London and had my Lap Band March 2007. In many ways I think I feel better than before. Things have been kind of rough for me with the band. I haven't really felt it was a great success and keep hoping that things will improve.

I would love local people to talk to and possibly meet for coffee.

I have a friend in Dorchester that was banded a couple of days after me. We really enjoy getting together to shoot the "band". Hee hee

Take care!

Hi,

I live in London currently. I was banded August 1st in Mississauga by Dr. Cobourn. How do you like it?

Hi There

I am back from a weeks vacation. I stopped over for a fill on my way and now I am at 5.7 cc. Still not right. I called Tammy today in Mississauga and we have scheduled another fill next Tuesday. She said not to get discouraged we will get it. It is discouraging because I am taking the train everytime I have to go and it is a full day trip. I hope my sweet spot it almost feeling sweet. I also feel that the amount of money that I paid for the band I will keep going back until I am 80 if I have to to get it right. I have lost maybe 1 pound since post op which was the beginning of September. Not very good.

Anyways, I would be very interested in getting together for coffee and discuss everyones experiences and maybe we can creat a great London support group. Let me know.

Sheila: I hope you get to sweet soon. I am worried about getting fills. I had 4.2cc in during the surgery and had to have it removed on day 7 after my surgery. What a relief, it was not good being too full. I know that is frustrating getting to Mississauga but going slow is better. I will not be very aggressive with my fills, I don't want another week like that again. Coffee/support group sounds great.

I realize it has been a long time responding to this post. I would like to join one of your coffee's if you still have them to discuss the band. I was banded in September last year and it really hasn't done alot for me to date. I realized finally that I was working it wrong. Anyways if you do get this please let me know. Thanks

Sheila

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
