It's been a long year, the hope was I'd be approved and on the table by October. But I had no comorbidity that I knew of. My insurance required it. I felt liquids the rest of the day.
I figure I will drop weight, at least.
For anybody who feels like it will never happen, or the journey is slow, stick with it. Please.
It's going to be so worth it. At least I think so.

It's been a long year, the hope was I'd be approved and on the table by October. But I had no comorbidity that I knew of. My insurance required it. I felt sleep Apnea was something I had, so managed to get into a sleep study and sure enough, I did.
After discovering I had said comorbidity, I was able to continue the classes. I had two nutrition classes, a meeting with a dietician and psychologist, then the meeting with the nurses.
I was given a date and approved by me insurance company. I was told June 16th I'm having surgery but it may be moved up to April l as people tend to cancel. I'm very excited and relieved as it's been a long hellish journey with my weight. I literally started dieting at thirteen years of age, my last diet was in 2012, I lost 119 pounds but couldn't maintain.
I also had pyloric stenosis when born.
I was told a preop diet isn't necessary, because they really will not know, even if you do the diet, whether the liver is shrunk or not. All livers are diseases when obese.
To be safe I'm doing the preop diet anyhow. Tomorrow I begin drinking a premier shake for Breakfast and Clear  liquids the rest of the day.
I figure I will drop weight, at least.
For anybody who feels like it will never happen, or the journey is slow, stick with it. Please.
It's going to be so worth it. At least I think so.

Congrats to you. I had only just read your other post about feeling depressed - so really glad you are moving closer to your op date.

Congratulations. I'm trying to be patient but the thought of not getting approved is consuming all of my thoughts. I'm appealing a denial because my comorbidity, BP is controlled with medication.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
