What foods and spices can you no longer tolerate post-surgery?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what people can no longer eat, or what seasonings they use that bother you after surgery> Personally I've been able to keep down just about everything food-wise. The only problems I've encountered have been some fatty pork loin at a Chinese restaurant, bur rhe barbecued red colored pork was fine. I used to be a huge sushi eater. While I have given up all rice, every time I have tried sashimi (raw fish with no rice), I have gotten a major belly ache but have never thrown up. This has happened with tuna, yellowtail and salmon so far. I can put down cooked eel and the imitation crab with no problems. I also have a problem with any onions that are not cooked. Same belly ache again. This also applies to chili powder, but surprisingly, I've been OK mixing horseradish with ketchup to make a cocktail sauce when I have boiled shrimp. Anybody else have any similar issues?

I can't do breaded chicken tenders apparently. Pho is banned to me. I think I ventured to try it a little too early and I got sick leaving the restaurant. Just can't eat too much, not too fast either. My spice palette is still alive though, thank god 'cause I'm hispanic and my family always is cooking spicy food.

For me anything acid based. Oranges, pineapple, certain salad dressings, tomatoes, apples and very fatty foods or deep fried. I have acid reflux so the acid based foods no no makes sense for me.

I can't eat anything spicy and I'm completely bummed! I'm from Texas and spicy food is life. I can't even eat one bite if it's too spicy or I need a Zantac. Also can't do lemons or juice. Can't do too much fatty foods either including healthy fats.

Milk.

I love spicy foods but have to be cautious about eating them since I can't drink right after eating. That's changed the level of spiciness I consume.

I'm just under 4 weeks out and have moved on to purees. I have been able to eat everything that I've tried.

I used to love eggs. Ever since my surgery they still taste great but feel like they want to come back up every time, so I try to avoid em. I also have bad acid reflux since having the surgery and avoid acidic drinks and foods.

Anything deep fried or fatty... I would spend time with the porcelain god if either touched my lips

8 mos out I've always been able to pretty much eat or tolerate anything HOWEVER. eggs and apples don't sit well. they make me queezy. I don't have reflux or anything I just have a nauseated feeling after eating eggs or apples.

I used to love garlic and onions. Now I only eat them in small amounts. The flavored are just too strong.

I used to love garlic but if I smell it on someone's breath or small it I get nauseated. So weird.

I have a hard time now with ground beef or ground turkey. I used to L.O.V.E. burgers. No more!

But I can actually tolerate more spice than before. Which is a good thing since I live in the southwest!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
