Crafty Li'l Devil 144 Posted March 5, 2017 I think i was 4 weeks after and have just stayed away from anything fizzy. Vodka and cranberry juice does the trickSent from my SM-G920I using the BariatricPal AppI was told I had to wait a year, but I'm not sure I can make that! I'm 6 weeks out and I'm going to attempt to make at least 6 months. I had one sip on Mardi Gras day. I have always liked whiskey but I know the calories are hell 2 ladygg1967 and cyberdiva reacted to this
Minimel 45 Posted March 8, 2017 Bloody Maria's (tequila) are my thing but have tried wine and cidre too. I waited 6 weeks for the tequila and 8 months for the cider but I don't have problems with carbonation at all
Daniellewi 69 Posted March 8, 2017 I can drink any alcohol but the sugary mixers make me feel like crap. Beer doesn't hurt like everyone scared me into thinking would happen. I don't have it often and sip it slow and only have one. I found out the hard way that my alcohol tolerance is way low. Just take it slow and you'll find out what works for YOU. 3 cyberdiva, ladygg1967 and CocoNina reacted to this
Sullie06 1,013 Posted March 8, 2017 I was told to wait 6 months. I used to love a glass of wine for dinner so I thought it would be hard but I think I tricked my brain into thinking I am pregnant in regards to drinking because it's been easier than expected. 1 Crafty Li'l Devil reacted to this
elliekay 189 Posted March 8, 2017 my team said to stick to wine if i drink at all--i think my first drink was 4 weeks out but it hurt and i don't suggest doing the same haha. i'd wait til you're on solid food. 3 Crafty Li'l Devil, CocoNina and cyberdiva reacted to this

This is so smart! My doctors also told me to wait a year before I have a drink. My best friend is getting married in July so I have the bachelorette weekend and wedding with no alcohol I will just have to psych myself out! Pregnant for the day lol 2 Crafty Li'l Devil and Sullie06 reacted to this
CocoNina 210 Posted March 11, 2017 My doctor said to wait for a year too. I won't be able to since I'm going on vacation in May. Which is like 3-months post op. I'm planning on trying Sangria first since it's my favorite wine & its "healthy" since fruits are usually added to it, so there goes the natural sugars. leebick 448 Posted March 12, 2017 About 3 months post-op, I had a small glass of white wine at my Cousins' Reunion. I've also had beer a couple of times. We drink at local microbreweries, so I can order brews that have low carbonation. I can't drink a whole beer, so usually order a 4oz. "taster." One taster is enough- then I'm full. I used to drink a lot- maybe 3 or 4 pints, once a week- so this is a big difference for me! I have been out more frequently than this, but usually don't choose to have anything alcoholic to drink. I don't find the alcohol hits me any differently, but I'm not drinking very much when I do choose to imbibe, which I am sure makes a difference. 3 cyberdiva, bossportsgal and CocoNina reacted to this
hmm33502 187 Posted March 12, 2017 Tried a margarita 2 months out...bad idea! It made me so sick! Too much sugar, I guess! 1 RockDaisy reacted to this
MsShortyDee 160 Posted March 13, 2017 I had small sips of wine [emoji485] one month after Surgery. I was fine 1 CocoNina reacted to this
RebeccaL 4 Posted March 14, 2017 I waited a couple of months for my first drink. I stick to red wine (easy to drink slowly) or vodka with coconut Water if I want something different.
Tami_819 17 Posted March 15, 2017 My doc says never again to alcohol, nutritionist says wait 6 months. That said, we went out for dinner the other afternoon & my favorite winery was releasing their spring wine. Yep, stopped in and had a sample or two (REALLY JUST TWO) and my only regret was we didn't walk around enough after eating before stopping. Otherwise, the wine was wonderful. For me, i can give up the sweets but i do like to have wine with my meals so i'm thinking instead of a glass it will just be a much smaller tasting after or before provided my body is ok with it. 3 CocoNina, taylorjay and XmeghannstarX reacted to this
AnaDmom3 66 Posted March 17, 2017 About 10 weeks post I had a glass of wine then 2 weeks later I went on an all inclusive vacation and yes I had a drink daily but I can say if I hadn't had the surgery I would have drank all day / everyday at the pool and several more into the night so I guess although I wish I hadn't had any, I find having had one or 2 drinks per day a victory in comparison to pre surgery and I haven't had any alcohol since back home and I used to have wine pretty much daily! 3 CocoNina, Jhacque7 and cinderella8 reacted to this
