Gas pain succcccccks! 5th day post bypass and it has brought me to tears 3 times! This isn't your overeating gas or your everyday burp/fart but CO2 that was injected into our bodies so doc could work that has to be absorbed into the body to be expelled.. gas meds and lying down flat helps they say.. but to my experience my pain was front under left rib so relief was to be on my bed in cat like position on all 4s and my hubs rubbed my back to kinda jostle the gas back around so the pain was dispersed and not all in a pocket .. the goal being to get the opposite side up for gas to travel upward as it wants to .. glad I figured out what worked for me good luck and God bless!

Ladies just want to encourage you to walk, walk, walk and to know it really does get better so start with the end in mind. I didn't feel like walking then but made myself do it to feel better it really does give some relief. I'm a little over 3 months and happy to say it felt like I would never get here and thankful it went faster than anticipated so know your time is coming soon ladies!:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
