Why do protein powders have to take up so much space!

Recommended Posts

I have four types of Protein Powder and a very small kitchen. And of course, each of the Protein powders came in a freaking huge jug or giant bag. They should come up with a more convenient way of storing them. If you get any variety at all (I don't want to drink the same shake every single day), you wind up using all of your counter space!

I know how you feel. My pantry is overflowing with bulk purchases from Sams.

It is bulky. What I do is have an automatic shipment from Unjury every month. It kind of helps with storage. I do only get two flavors, though.

Just a suggestion.

Been there... done that. Have you tried Vacum Sealers Sears.com

This might free up some counter space for you and allow yourself more room :).

Let me know if this helps.

of course you would need to be careful not to suck the protien powder in the machine. In this case you might try double bagging with a ziplock. ... Maybe this is not such a good idea.

I keep my jugs in the closet and have a few gallon size ziplock bags that I keep in the kitchen. When the bag gets low I refill from the closet.

What about buying nice containers for the countertop?

That way they are where you need them but look pretty

Ideally, that's what I'd do, but I live in an apartment with very limited counter space. And I'm a packrat, so my counter's already full.:guess

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
