mylighthouse 782 Posted March 3, 2017 Here's a link to a website that has some gastric sleeve info, including what your diet should be like and it gives you a list of foods, which is good. Also stresses getting that 60 grams of Protein (at the least) and your 64 oz plus of liquids. I am sorry to hear that you were given no guidance after your surgery. That is just wrong. Hope this helps a little: http://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-big-gastric-sleeve-diet-guide/ 1 Rachel79uk reacted to this

Rachel79uk 31 Posted March 3, 2017 How are you supposed to know what to eat and when? Sheesh. There are lots of bariatric centers that publish their post op meal plans. Johns Hopkins has one, and I've seen several others. I would link it, but don't know how on my phone. If you need more pointers, be sure to ask! Good thing you found this board...Thank u very very much xx

Rachel79uk 31 Posted March 3, 2017 OMG! You h ad no guidance at all? You need to find a Bariatric Nutritionist and have a visit or two. My NUT did not allow us to eat baby food. It does not have the levels of Protein you need. Your body needs protein, otherwise it will pull the protein from your muscles. My plan is 5 mini-meals daily, every 3 - 4 hours, no snacking in between. At this stage you need to be drinking at least one Protein Shake a day to get close to your protein goal - 60g minimum. Premier Protein shakes have 30g of protein and can be bought at Wallmart, costco or Sam's. Stop 30 minutes prior to eating, don't drink while eating, and don't drink for 30 minutes after. Were you given Vitamin and supplement advice? You need a good bariatric Multivitamin and at least 1200 - 1500 Mgs of Calcium a day. The other people I went with have all lost 24lbs plus. Am I doing anything wrong?? I'm having baby food and bananas to eat atm. Many thanks Baby food is the worst thing you can eat...Tons of sugars and calories for babies to grow..Bananas arent to bad after a workout to replenish the body, but dont rely on them as a food source. They are very high in sugars also. Edited March 3, 2017 by JerseyJules 1 Rachel79uk reacted to this
sleevinpops 303 Posted March 3, 2017 Holy moly! Haw can a doctor do this to a patient especially with such a significant surgery! You should report this to your insurance if it was covered. Anyway...clear liquids and Protein Shakes only for the first few weeks ( I had two weeks), then you can introduce low fat, low sugar yogurt, sugar free pudding in third week.Intake goal :48 oz of fluids / 60 grams of proteinNext three weeks for me are liquids, soft Proteins (tofu, soft chicken, eggs, yogurt, retried Beans etc. ). I am not allowed fruits or vegetables until 6 weeks out.Goal 64 oz fluids 60-80 grams of Protein.< br>Check out theworldaccordingtoeggface.com, she's got a lot of suggestions for this and each stage. After week 6, can start to introduce all textures and fruits &veggies.Good luck! 2 Rachel79uk and CocoNina reacted to this

JerseyJules 862 Posted March 4, 2017 remember surgery is a tool not a fix. Remember all those strict diets you would see in the health magazines and you would be like "OMG how do people survive on that little food? ". Well this surgery allows your mind and body to work together to follow those eating habits, where before your surgery you simply couldnt do it cause your body fought you every step of the way. You have an 18 month RESET window to loose all your excess weight, do it now dont look back and return to smaller Portion Control. 1 CocoNina reacted to this
blizair09 3,250 Posted March 4, 2017 12 hours ago, Rachel79uk said: That's great thanks so much. I'm Literally not getting any Protein in at all!! I will give that a try xx I'm not trying to be unkind, but who did your surgery? If he/she sent you home this unprepared to live your post-op life, I would seriously consider that to be bordering on malpractice. Every bariatric patient should know how important protein is post-op. I can't even imagine anyone not knowing that before they had the procedure done. I never cease to be amazed by the things I read on these forums anymore. Good luck. If your doctor is really this terrible, I recommend that you seek out and hire an independent PCP (with experience with bariatric patients) and a nutritionist the same background. 2 biginjapan and CocoNina reacted to this
