What little changes do you notice?

Recommended Posts

Let's cheer each other up with little non-scale victories!

For me this week:

  • Going to put on a white blouse in the morning and realizing that the only bra that fits me is purple. Oooops!
  • Sipping a Protein Shake through a colleague's birthday lunch in which everyone was eating burgers, fries, onion rings, brownies, and drinking mocktails. I got through it and even had a good time! (but please please don't have them schedule another one anytime soon.) :)
  • Dashing off to a meeting and actually walking out of a shoe because they're getting too loose.
  • Wearing three outfits I haven't worn in over two years and getting a lot of compliments.
  • Upping my fitbit daily goal to 12,000 steps
  • Being in a room full of people who haven't seen me in about four months and having a few do quick double-takes.
  • People commenting on how they like my new haircut when I've done nothing to change the style.

What are little changes that you're noticing?

I have my postop appointment with my surgeon tmrw and the only pants that fit me are basketball shorts because of the drawstring....It's 35° out.

I can put on my own socks.

I can't wear a bra because of my one incision being so high up and on my bra line....My shirts are all huge on me and I will look like I have pancake boobs haha.

People tell me I need to get some new clothes. Chair arms that used to dig into my legs don't touch my legs anymore. I keep having to move my car seat up. My pants are all miles too long. My sweaters are turning into sweater dresses. One guy at work calls me the amazing shrinking Carolyn. I love every bit of it even though I've been hungry all day every day since 12/9!

Being able to shop at non-plus sized stores, and not having to wear the biggest size.

Running!

Not being the biggest person in the room all the time.

Finding old clothes in my attic that finally fit.

Being able to give away most of my clothes.

Feeling my ribs and hip bones.

Just to name a few! :)

Looking in the mirror and seeing my collar bone.

Wearing a size 13/14 from a 24...and they are becoming loose.

Having my husband look at me in shock with a smile on a daily basis...not believing his own eyes.

Not shopping in the plus sizes.

Thrift shopping is so rewarding ...ladies sizes are more plentiful unlike plus sizes.

Feeling full/staying full.

Feeling sexy and I know it!! ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
