Multi vitamins!! HELP

Recommended Posts

I just ordered Bariatric Advantage Multi Vitamin which is a chewable and it is absolutely disgusting. Literally, makes me sick. The cool thing is that they have everything I need except Calcium so I'm only taking 2 Vitamins and 2 chewables per day. My surgeon did not approve me taking the patch and says their isn't enough research on them. Anyone have a better tasting multi vitamin that has everything? Trying to get this sorted before surgery next Wednesday

Thanks!

My NUT/Doc approved me to take Centrum Silver chewables since anything else made me gag. I have to take a double dose daily and Calcium. I also take Iron because I had an iron deficiency prior to surgery & have taken it for years.

Yes. He didn't have any experience with them but with my labs looking good and me having no issues he is fine with them.

I'd recommend talking to them about letting you try the Patches and seeing how your blood work looks. I've been using them for 6 months and all is good. I admit, I only switched to them after someone else seeing my surgeon was a 'guinea pig' and tried them for a few months and did regular blood work as well. So they do seem to work, and I love that I don't have to chew anything, and it prevents me from having take them with food to prevent an upset stomach.

I use the Centrum adult chewables (not the silver) it tastes like orange. I also take two calcium chews. And liquid Iron at the moment which tastes foul. Apparently I have to be on the liquid iron until 6 weeks post op... ugh

I know! I love the idea of them. Girl I've pleaded he just said there isn't enough research to back it. I find that strange because everyone I know who takes the patches have great success

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
