I have not been on the forums here since May, and I thought I would just log in and look around, but I am compelled to start a new thread.

I stopped visitng the forums because I was living my day to day life by what everyone else experienced, and really downing myself when I didn't do as well as others here at Lapbandtalk. Now, 4 months later, here I am again.

I had my surgery January 29th, 2007. I started slowly. I struggled with finding the right way to eat and hating myself for spending over 15 grand when I was not losing weight quickly.

Now I can say this....15 grand well spent! Face it folks, GOOD eating habits are learned, even with lapband. I learned this the hard way.

Today is my 8 month Bandiversary. YEAH!!!!! I have lost 53 pounds, and dropped 4 sizes. I have loads more energy. I am happy for the first time in ages!!!

My advice and thoughts are this: Don't give up, every person is different, and slow can be good! (You didn't gain the 100 pounds overnight, so you won't lost it overnight!)

:clap2::clap2: on getting back on the bandwagon - and figuring out what you needed to do to lose the weight :clap2::clap2: imho i have gone into this knowing that is the only way it's going to work is to change my eatly to healthy choices & exercise... I am not relying on the band to do the work - I am doing it with the assistant of the band..

Also, love your band date - it's my Bday :)

I've taken breaks and come back...it's understandable.

Like everything you take what you need and leave the rest alone. [That's hard to learn about food, lol].

It's good to have you here again.

:whoo:CONGRATULATIONS!:clap2: YOU'VE ARRIVED!:)

I couldn't have said it better myself. So often I see bandsters hanging out here freaking out because they aren't achieving the results they wanted, they're frustrated and are searching in a wilderness trying to find their own path.

That's what theses support forums are for, but it's so very exciting to see someone who has found their way through the darkness.

Charlotte - thanks for coming back to let us know how you've been doing. I've got 9 days until I'm being banded and from everything I've read I realise this is something that has to be taken one day at a time.

Well done on your success so far :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
