So ive been doing some research and i have found a few blogs/articles that say if your having trouble getting enough Protein in then drink more milk instead of Water. Anyone else do this? I get about 50g of protein in at 3 wks post op but want to get more in and im so sick of water and crystal light and protien shakes just taste so powdery to me! But i feel more water is needed, any thoughts?

Just watch out for fat and sugars in milk. But yes, it was recommended for me too. But I'm diabetic and it was spiking my sugars back then. I should try it again, I'm off all meds now!!

I don't think that some milk would hurt, but be aware that milk has carbs and sugar in it. I am not a milk drinker, so to get the extra Protein, I use Isopure unflavored Protein powder and add it to my Decaf iced tea every day. It's a great way to get the Protein without the carbs and sugars.

I'm 15 weeks post op, but I still drink a little bit of a Premier ready-to-drink shake a day too. Have you tried that kind? I don't think they taste powdery or chalky at all.

The recommended grams of protein per day for me were 60-80, but I push mine up to almost 100 grams a day, because I have found that in combination with keeping my carbs below 40 grams a day, is really helping me drop the weight.

I need to look into purchasing unflavored Protein Powder and Peanut Butter. All ive seen was vanilla and chocolate in most stores. Ill have to shop online. I have been doing the slim fast 20g shakes but i dread drinking them because they get so old after about a week, like i literally have to hold my nose lol

I haven't had surgery yet so I kind of feel like I have some kind of nerve commenting. But I just had nutrition class yesterday and I am a little bit fresh on the recommendations. They did recommend that milk was a good source for Protein. You can use 1% or even fat free she said. I think if the bigger concern is getting the protein in, at 3 weeks out, the sugars & fats will not be the concern because we KNOW the weight is going to drop, right? Right now the bigger concern would be keeping u hydrated & ur nutrition up. Have u tried nectar? It blended really well when I tried it before. Or yeah, putting PB on/in some of ur fruit or celery?

I like GENEPRO unflavored and PB 2 powdered peanut butter. But remember unflavored still has a little flavor. I tried a few and like genepro best.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
