New Me 31317 25 Posted March 1, 2017 I am on Day 3 of my 14 day pre op diet....i feel exhausted and have a constant headache. Could this be from too much Protein? ( my pre op consists of 2 shakes, 2 bars and 1 protein/veggie meal)
orionburn 1,024 Posted March 1, 2017 Not likely due to the Protein. Headaches are fairly common the first few days. For me it was because I delayed cutting off my daily coffee/caffeine fix. The first few days are pretty tough but it does get better! For me I my hurdle was about 5 days in. After that I was adjusted to the diet and was pretty smooth sailing after that. 3 swimbikerun, mylighthouse and Amy Turner reacted to this
swimbikerun 1,046 Posted March 1, 2017 Have you spoken with the surgeon's office? This is common and they should have warned you about it. Its more than likely due to sugar/caffeine removal and lower calories than anything else. I didn't cold turkey anything. I spent 3 weeks before weaning off caffeine/sodas. Not touched a drop in years. I didn't have a problem but if you cold turkey anything, that's what will happen. 1 carolynjackson reacted to this

MissKay 329 Posted March 2, 2017 Yes, definitely common. Headaches, fatigue and even mood swings. You're depriving your body of carbs, calories, fat, etc. Basically what it's use to. Usually by days 4-6 you see this taper off and you feel a lot better. Still not great, but less like poop. 1 orionburn reacted to this
Amy Turner 16 Posted March 16, 2017 It normal in the beginning, as the body struggles for the diet they are used to. It takes about a week and you are good
