JulieNYC 4 Posted October 2, 2007 Coo, I'm ovo lacto (I tried eating fish early in my band journey at my doc's insistence, but I just can't) and have had no problems being banded. I eat a fair amount of soy, a fair amount of whey, a lot of Beans and lentils, dairy (whipped cottage cheese nearly every day), etc. I eat asparagus and pineapple. You'll learn that you can eat everything (or at least most things) if you make modifications, like taking small bites, cutting the fibers with your knife before you start to chew, blending textures, etc. It's all going to be fine. Being banded is great.
Betsyjane 2 Posted October 2, 2007 Do you have any problems with the estrogen in soy? My Dr said that too much will open you to the same side eefects as hormone replacement. Hmmm. I never asked how much is too much. Could be one of those "10 times your body weight consumed" studies....

A lot of reading is good, but the more I read the more scared I get! Thanks for the info

Well, I'm of child bearing age, but not trying to conceive, so I don't worry about it too much. I eat 3-4 servings a week. I would say I'm conscious about it though. If I were trying to conceive, I'd go down to 1-2 servings.
Wheetsin 714 Posted October 3, 2007 I must say, I'm really confused - what will I be able to eat, what won't I, what AMOUNT will I be able to eat , will it work, will it be worth it. There's no way to answer that. I wish we could. Everyone can eat different things, and in different amounts. For most people who fit the profile of a good candidate, the band will work. For some it won't.
