Bogie61 1 Posted February 28, 2017 I had my sleeve surgery on January 30th. In October I weighed about 450 lbs. I have lost about 65 lbs since then. I was using a cane and a walker before surgery. The Friday before surgery I fell in the tub trying to get out. I had to call the paramedics to pull me out of the tub and take me to the ER. I ended up with a sprained foot and knee. So now I am not only recovering from surgery, I am struggling with mobility when I wasn't very mobile in the first place.
orionburn 1,024 Posted February 28, 2017 That's awesome progress so far, though! Keep at it and you'll feel a world of difference before you know it. Good luck on your journey! 1 Bogie61 reacted to this
Berry78 4,261 Posted February 28, 2017 Sorry to hear about the injury. Glad it wasn't more serious! Sprains usually feel much better within a month or two. Do you have friends or family that can help with grocery shopping and the like? There are many exercises that can be accomplished from the bed. It is important to keep moving for blood flow and clot prevention. Get creative! The good news is with the surgery, you will keep losing weight even without hitting the gym right away. Weight loss will help your mobility, as long as you keep moving as much as possible. If you don't move, your muscles will atrophy within weeks. Keep using your walker, and try to at least walk around inside the house several times a day.Make goals. If you can't walk at all, practice getting up and standing, sit down, and repeat. Day 1, do it once or twice an hour. Day 2, do two or three times an hour. Etc. You are going to do great! 1 Bogie61 reacted to this
