Thigh numbness 2 days post op

Recommended Posts

Hello people,

wondering if if anyone else has issues with a numb thigh after surgery? It's the outer most portion of my thigh and it's been numb for about 3 days now. When I lay on my back in bed it wakes me up with almost like electric shock or bee sting types of pain which is quite intense.

has anyone had this issue? Does it go away? My surgeon doesn't seem too bothered and says it'll probably go away but I don't really like how vague he is

I have it. Ive had it before when i was bigger. I assume its a compressed nerve for me. http://patient.info/health/meralgia-paraesthetica-leaflet

How long have you had it? Did it come just after surgery?

thanks

Ive also had this (not had surgery yet). Outer thigh, stinging, numbness, painful to touch? I was tested up and down for everything. No clue. Just "one of those things". Just neuropathy. Had me on a couple meds for a bit then it stopped.

I had the same on my left leg went away almost 2 weeks out. Surgeon said it's had to do with your nerves during surgery and being moved around and nerves being pulled he said it's a fairly common complaint after surgery

I also had it, it lasted a few weeks after surgery. I was told it might have been from being strapped to the bed during surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
