Get plenty of rest and liquids and Vitamins... Enchilada helps battle colds and prevent them as well. Hope you're recovered by surgery date! Good luck!

Thank you! Yeah, getting lots of fluids, and have started on my bariatric Vitamins. First to see if I can tolerate them before I order more, and to try and get better.

Sorry, that was supposed to read "Echinacea". It helps prevent & battle colds. It's a Vitamin. Autocorrect murdered that hard core emoji23.png

Day 8 of liquid diet can't wait until Monday

Hang in there girl! Stick to the liquids only. You can do this!

If I eat some vegetables will it cause a problem with me having surgery on Monday

One of the reasons for this diet is to help shrink your stomach and liver since one sits on top of the other for a laparoscopic procedure. If your liver gets nicked it can be bad and cause a longer surgery, making them have you under general anesthesia for a longer period of time, which is not good.
I know it's hard but you have to stick with the liquids! Also it gives you willpower for after surgery being that you will be on a stricter diet for more than this time that you've been on the liquid diet. Try sugar-free popsicles to switch it up too.

For those with gas pain take your stool softeners guys! Once you poop you will feel 95% better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
