You need to have 6 shakes a day so you need to be clever & creative with some flavoring. I bought Carmel, pineapple, mint. You also can add sugar fee instant pudding for flavor & thickner! Also, with chocolate I added 1 tbsp dark chocolate CoCo & mint flavoring. I also bought whole vanilla Beans which taste fantastic! But use very little because it's strong. Snip a little piece from the bean, then split in half scrape out the bean. Store in zip bag to keep fresh. I hope this is helpful!!

yes, you don't want to starve yourself. For me, after surgery I did not want to eat, everything tasted awful to me! This is from a person who loved any kind of food.. it took me over a month to get on regular schedule & get in all my Protein. You can get unflavored Protein packets & mix with Jello as another way to get your protein in... first thing first let's get you thru the surgery!!!

Wow I didn't even know I had to have 6 shakes A day that's a awesome tip thanks how many ounces and how do you alternate with eating food

Hmm. I am told to have 3-3.5 shakes a day depending on the Protein content so that I get at least 70g of protein a day. 6 would be a lot!

You should spread out the drinks so you are not tempted to eat something solid. Trust me, it's hard but you DO NOT WANT TO BE HUNGRY & CRAVING!! The first 2 days see what works best for you. If 3-3 1/2 works for you great!! Just remember Protein is your first priority. YOU need at least 60-70 grams a day.

I had to do three weeks and surgery is tomorrow! It has been hard, but extremely doable. Just have to keep your eyes on the prize.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
