I got news yesterday that I was approved for surgery!!!:clap2: I worked hard to get approved and I feel good!! Thought I would share positive news that you can be denied and then appeal after more studies and weight loss attempts have been documented!! My tentative date is October 17th!! Yeah!! I call the surgeon tomorrow to confirm the surgery date and schedule my preop visit!! Wish me luck, I want it to be that day because it works well for work. Well I am off to Celebrate with a Lean Cusine for dinner...LOL!

Congratulations!! I also found out yesterday that I'm approved! My surgery is set for October 11. I'm so excited. I'm nervous though, as I'm sure you are. I'm definitely glad to finally have an answer from my insurance company.:clap2:

I am just starting my journey to weight loss. I was notified that my insurance company wants me to do a few things before they okay the surgery. 1) I have to take a 3 hour psych eval. 2) I have to meet with a psychiatrist and then the surgery team. 3) I have to send them all of my weight loss attempts documentation. That is where the problem comes in most of my weight loss attempts were ones that I did on my own (ie Atkins Diet, Southbeach Diet, Zone diet, etc.) I am not sure what to send them for documentation on these. Does anyone have any suggestions as I don't want to mess things up with my insurance company?:)

It depends on what your insurance requires - i too had done ww - jenny craig - diet pill doctor - i just gave them the yrs about how much i lost and then regained- and that worked for me - but again that was what my insurance accepted (blue cross ca)

Good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
