Been approved for PS Help!

Recommended Posts

Just got a letter from my insurance saying I have been approved for my reduction mammaplasty and reconstruc nipple areolar unil. Now what? I only met one time with the Dr and we didn't discuss hardly anything. The dates of the approval are Feb 20th to March 6th and I just got the letter today. I called the Dr and was told the lady I needed to talk with was at lunch but she was waiting to hear about co-pays. When I called insurance they said my copay would be if I had a hospital room stay. The insurance called the Dr and was told usually this is a not an over night room stay. Can some one help me out and explain more of what questions I should be asking and what the next step is?

Just now got more details:

Consultations Tuesday March 7th with Dr's assistant. Wed March 15th preop Tuesday March 21st surgery YIKES!

Don't let them rush you into surgery!

If insurance approved you now, there's no reason they won't do so again a month from now.

That is exciting. I agree with above there is no rush I was fairly clear on what I wanted so it was pretty easy for me. I do not even think I was this perky when I was a teen ?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
