I'm a little past 4 months out. My stats are:

HW-232

SW-220

CW-186

GW-140

Anyway. I've been doing ok until today. I didn't know who to talk to about this. My Facebook support groups are ok...but I really feel like I'll get better advice here. I have depression and anxiety. I had a therapy session today that left me in a bad place. We usually talk about things that upset me or what my worries are...but we ended the session with me talking about when I was abused...sexually. It was a brief talk and my therapist and I will likely discuss it next session. My issue is...right after I left her office... I sat in my car for 20 minutes then I got super emotional... and I started binge eating... I only have 5ozs of stomach but I binge ate until i was sick... and repeated this all day... what do you all do when your emotions are just all over the place and all you want to do is eat?

First, I just want to say how very sorry I am for what happened to you and tell you how brave I think you are for sharing and for committing to therapy.

Second, as far as the binge goes, I would recommend telling your therapist what happened after your last session so that you can work together to come up with some constructive ways of handling the stress that comes from confronting painful memories. Maybe journaling, meditation, positive affirmations, yoga, or simply having the therapist make sure not to end a session on a low/stressful note before sending you back out to the world?

Keep up the good work and hang in there!

I am so sorry :(

While you aren't caught up in the whirlwind of emotion, it would be good to put a constructive outlet in place. Make a plan.

Heavy physical work helps me (I have anger issues). Look for something that you can do for a couple hours that will leave you better than you started, and no longer having the need for self sabotage.

Sitting and eating is a very passive activity that leaves you feeling worse than when you started. Something like going to the gym gives you an outlet that helps you feel better about yourself. (Look, I walked farther on the treadmill, or lifted 5 more pounds than last week).

If the gym doesn't appeal, there are so many activities... arts, crafts, puzzles, reading, volunteering...

[Hugs] You will find your way!

Thank you so much. I know she tried to talk about something different towards the end of the session but I think I was already feeling overwhelmed and helpless at that point. But i will definitely talk to her about what happened. I will have to try the Journaling and meditation.

Thank you again.

Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it. I think the gym is a great idea. I love to craft too. So I can definitely get into crafting.

Thank you again.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
