snowkitten 371 Posted February 24, 2017 I've done alot of research, and its possible Im looking too much in to this, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on how much of each Vitamins are required daily. I found this list....-Adult Multivitamin, w/100% of the recommended daily allowance-1800 mg to 2400 mg calcium citrate (divided into three or four doses of about 600 mg each, taken at least two hours apart)-18 mg to 27 mg Iron for menstruating women-10,000 IU Vitamin A-2000 IU Vitamin D-300 mcg Vitamin K-B-50 complex is optionalIs this accurate? Ive read alot of posts of people taking alot more so I have a hard time believing this is a comprehensive list.
uberlin77 0 Posted February 24, 2017 That sounds about right. I can't remember the amounts of the doses off the top of my head but my nutritionist has me on a Centrum daily Vitamin, two Calcium pills, two vitamin D pills, one vitamin A, one b50 complex, and an Iron pill three times a week. I also take a Gummy Biotin to try and combat the hair loss...I'm really not sure how much it helps but I figure it doesn't hurt.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

James Marusek 5,244 Posted February 24, 2017 Your Vitamin regiment will depend on the type of surgery that you had. You are posting under the duodenal switch forum but you are identifying yourself as a gastric sleeve patient. The Vitamin regiment is very different between these two groups. Your surgeon's office should have defined this for you. According to my Bariatric Discharge Instructions, duodenal switch patients were advised to take: Four children's chewable complete multivitamin's daily 1800-2400 mg. calcium citrate daily A total of 5000 International Units of vitamin D3 daily 1000 micrograms sublingual B12 weekly or B12 injections monthly and 100 mg Thiamin (Vitamin B1) weekly I underwent a different type of surgery (RNY gastric bypass) and I was told not to use Gummy Vitamins because they would not be absorbed properly. There are two types of Iron supplements and I was told to use Ferrous Sulfate for best absorption. There are also different chemistries of B12. I use the sublingual B12 and was told to use methylcobalamin.
Kaylamh 144 Posted February 24, 2017 It depends on your surgery. I take 500mg Calcium 4x a dayA Multi ADEK 3x a day (I use Celebrate brand in berry sorbet) 1000mcg of B12 (or one Bariatric Advantage speedy melt) once a day 29mg of Iron 1x a day (chewable bariatric fusion) And 5000 IU of Vitamin D once a day. I had the DS which is much more vitamin heavy than any other surgery. I'm still going to have to ask my doctor about the bariatric fusion Vitamins. There's no recommendation on their site for DS, but for the other surgeries is seems like a good option! 1 NJ2004BPD/DS reacted to this

I've chosen DS due to medical reasons. Im sure he will give me vitamin instructions but I wanted to do all research ahead of time. Sorry for any confusion, I just didn't want to bore everyone with my details, but I am a soon to be DS'er
snowkitten 371 Posted February 25, 2017 Thank u all for your responses. I think it confused me because I'd heard the DS Vitamin regimen was so intense, but from the list it seems normal to me.... mind u I've been taking alot of meds since I was 13 so that's probably why. All perspective I guess ,[emoji4]
