My 1st stuck food

Recommended Posts

At work I ate a mini-muffin. Please note people-- this was MINI.

I now know what y'all mean by something getting "stuck". To be honest, I didn't think I had ANY restriction. I have been able to eat anything. This is the first food I have had an issue with.

No big loss. Muffins are overrated anyway!

Good to know - I don't feel any restricton and I'm about to go to solids. I'll be careful.

Did you try and eat it in one bite?

It felt like there was a ball stuck in my stomach. Like a lump...

I just waited it out. It passed after about 3 hours. It wasn't so much painful as it was uncomfortable. I was at work and I couldn't leave so I just stuck it out. It just passed in the last 30 minutes and now my stomach is grumbling like crazy. It must be doing extra work to digest those carbs.

I did eat it in one bite, but to be honest I have had NO restriction and have been eating like I always have and haven't had any problems up to this point. I think normally I take smaller bites than most. I usually tend to try to eat pretty healthy (no fried foods, lots of protein) so I think I will keep trying to avoid the blatant bad carbs and processed foods.

Just because you CAN eat the same size bites/portions that you could before, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Even if you aren't worried about damaging your band (!) at least for behavior modification.

Take care of yourself. I know how hard it is. I don't have any restriction yet either. (I actually dreamed about eating sugar Cookies last night - lol)

Hey, for a couple of weeks there every day my food was getting stuck and I don't feel that I have that much restriction. The dietition told me it was because I was stressed and I think that is true. It was no particular food. Just any food. It is so frustrating as you can't eat for a long time after and the only thing that helps is to drink coke or make myself sick. I think I need another fill but don't know if I should because the food is getting stuck all the time. Also is there anyone else who is very aware of their port. Mine can be actually sore sometimes and I have knocked it against some things. I haven't heard of this happenong to anybody else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
