Hey,

i am a couple weeks out from my surgery date and getting nervous. i have all of these thoughts in my mind!!! the big one now that i REALLY need someone to answer for me is.. what the heck does the port feel like after you loose your weight? im sure i wont feel it while im overweight, but when my body gets to a normal body fat percentage will it be clearly visible under my skin?? will i ever be able to wear a bikini to the beach without people staring? i realize that i will probably feel it forever inside of me, but i dont it want to be noticable to other people. Can someone tell me if it will be???

thanks a ton,

:help:

Lauren

I think my question would be, "Can I ever wear a bikini to the beach." Period. The thought of ME in a bikini is something I have never, EVER, contemplated! :-)

OMG! That's exactly what I have been trying to find on line.(that's how I stumbled on to this site) Everyone talks about the weight loss, complications, etc which is great and super usefull but I'm sure I'm being vain by asking but what the heck...what I want to see is a banded, now thin person's belly in a bikini!! Do you see scars?? Do you see port?? That would definetly be a deciding factor for me. And this is pretty bold, but we are all adults here...will my partner feel it?? does chances of slippage/breaking increase with uhm...comprimising positions?? (can't believe Im asking but I gotta know)

Hi all,

I had my surgery on the 28th. My stomach is finally going down from all the saline I guess, but getting up and down from the bed and sometimes from chairs really hurts around my port area. Is that normal?

My DH can not feel it.... Although I can and as I lose more weight I can now even feel the little spongey tip.. (but I was really playing with it last night) GET YOUR MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER! :)

DO NOT FREAK OUT.... if you get to the point that you think small children will run away in terror... simply have a port revision and get the LOW PROFILE PORT............

Jaque has AWESOME genetics and she is a RUNNER so she has literally RAN HER ASS OFF to look like she does!

ME... well.... I plan a Tummy Tuck in a couple years and if I need a port replacement I will have it done at that time. (I think) Who knows what will happen!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
