I keep having to buy new cloths ( why should I be complaining? ) and other struggles.

Recommended Posts

I know why am I complaining? It just seems like every few weeks I need to buy new cloths. I just bought 2 weeks ago 3 new bras ( none of them fit now ) My size is ranging from an 8 to 10 depending on the cut of the cloths, I tried on a skirt the other day (10) it was swiming on me. I think what bothers me is that is so darn expensive to keep buying cloths. I know this should be all I be complaining about.

Maybe, I should hold-off on buying any new cloths ( at this point )

I've also been not able to keep food down ( I'm probibly too restricted right now, I know ) But, I don't want an unfill. I'm losing tons of weight. Last month I went in for my 6 week check-up and I'd lost 9 pounds. I'm 13 pounds till my first goal. It's been along time since I was "Just 13 pounds overweight"

Thank you,

I needed to get that off my chest.

Jen

Yeah, the clothes thing is kind of a two edged sword. On one hand it is a great feeling and on the other it is SO expensive. Congrats on your continued weight loss!

I know what you mean. I am going to have to break down and buy some clothes this weekend because I am going out of town to a business causal event. I look sloppy in all of the clothes I have now and it is not showing off all my hard work. So........I guess I have to empty the wallet another time and just suck it up and buy some new clothes and make them last til the next time.

if you don't have one maybe invest in a sewing machine, anything can be taken in a bit with out tons of sewing experience.

Try the goodwill/consignment store instead of full priced shops.

Or check the yellow pages for seamstresses with tailoring/fitting services which can be allot cheaper then buying new stuff.

With consignment you can sometimes just trade in your clothes that don't fit for stuff that fits you better.

Buy smaller sizes that are elastic if you're worried about the $$..

Like buy a size 6 skirt, that has elastic in the band that could fit up to an 8.

I look sloppy right now too. I am also digging out smaller clothes in my closet.. once I get below size 18 though, I'll have to shop. I bought 1 set of 18 jeans last diet I was on, and could barely put them on before I fell off the band wagon. Besides that point in time, I'd never been below a size 18 (in my teen-adult life). I was busting into a size 30 when I had surgery and I'm now a comfortable 20/22.

As I type I'm wearing very out of style size 24 jeans from about 5 years ago.

I was telling myself I can struggle though the unstylish part, but now I'm finding the doubtful. Perhaps it's the motivation I need to get into 22s or 20s more quickly.

The clothes issue is bugging me now too - it was a novelty at first. But it gets expensive. I'm at the end of my journey and just losing those last few pounds, but the trouble is, 6 or 7lb now takes me down a dress size. I just bought a few new pairs of jeans six weeks ago and they're enormous on me now, I need new ones. I dont know where my weight loss will stop either, I'm not really trying to lose anymore.

But enjoy it early on, you'll get more wear out of what you buy at the start of your journey and looking forward to the really great stuff you want to wear is a big part of it. Inching closer to that is so exciting.

If you can't keep anything down, you need to get an unfill. I think you will be more disappointed if you get to goal and get that unfill, and then gain some back when you start eating again, than if you get the unfill now and the weight loss is slower...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
